Isaac is turning 2 this coming Sunday and this weekend we had a birthday party at our home to celebrate. It seems crazy that he is already 2 years old! The past two years have been a whirlwind. I knew from the first second I saw Isaac that I needed time to just slow down. I find myself thinking at least once everyday how I wish I could hold onto these precious moments forever. Becoming parents has turned our world upside down! At times parenting can feel hard but our lives feel so much richer these days. I heard someone say it’s not about the duration of this life but it’s about how you spend it. I feel I am so overly blessed to be able to spend my time investing in our family. It’s a gift to be this kids Mommy.
I wanted to write a little about what Isaac is like now… to help me document a little bit of what 2 is like. Two is a lot of fun mostly. Isaac wakes up every morning around 7 am by yelling “MAMA”….over and over… and then “DADA”…. until one of us responds. He always wants lots of hugs and snuggles when he gets up and likes to carry his blanket around with him for a bit. Once he is fed and loved up, he usually checks in with our dogs and then gets busy running around.
He loves his toy vacuum. He has like 20 toy balls. He points out every basketball hoop we see (they are everywhere!). Now that it’s nice outside we spend lots of time outside. Currently he thinks its hilarious when we count to 3 and say go. I hear him practicing saying it for himself in his crib at nap time.
Isaac is shy and is slow to warm up to new people and places. He loves going on walks. He is a tinkering kinda guy…. he wants to figure out how everything works. He doesn’t care much for TV but sometimes he will watch Elmo. Humpty Dumpty is his favorite nursery rhyme. He thinks animals are cool and can make noises for them all. Just over the past few weeks he has started to enjoy his books and especially enjoys listening to stories from our Jesus Story time Bible before bed (I enjoy it too!).
Isaac is a stubborn little guy. We hope this means that he will not easily be swayed from doing what is right when he grows older. He loves music and dancing. He thinks Daddy’s cello is the coolest.
We love watching Isaac grow into his own little person. We love him so very much.
Happy 2nd Birthday Isaac!
