I started the tradition of writing a letter to our kids for each Birthday. There are so many things that I hope to remember about each age but my mind can only retain so much. These letters are my attempt to capture them in this moment in time and write to them some of my prayers and hopes for their lives. Our girl is turning THREE this week, which is mind-blowing. Here is her love-letter from her Momma.
You can now count to three. You have been telling everyone that you are turning “free” and it’s just the cutest thing.
This year you relished being celebrated! All you wanted was pizza, cake, and a room filled with people who love you saying Happy Birthday! That is just what you received.
You add all the spunk to our home! You are filled with plans and opinions. Full of hugs, joy, and love.
You are a little Momma to the core. You take care of babies, all the teddy bears, Spiderman, and are loving your tinier cousins right now. Yesterday you put Spiderman in timeout for killing a baby. Your gonna be a great Momma one day. We love seeing your tenderness and creativity shine!
When you aren’t taking care of all the things, you are painting or coloring! Probably four times a day we get out all the paper, paint, and art supplies. You love making things.
Books are your obsession! Reading to those babies or to Momma. Your imagination is impressive.
Lucas and you are growing close. You both love the outdoors, making forts, and playing pretend. Isaac sometimes plays as your “baby” which is pretty hilarious.
You still sleep in our room most nights, often times in a pack-n-play beside our bed. As the current and longest running baby in our home, you’ve enjoyed some extra grace in the sleep department.
This year in CBS you’ve learned that “God loves me.” I pray each day that message fills your heart with hope and joy for all of your days.
We love you so much our sweet girl. I love that we can connect in a way special to being a mother-daughter team in a house otherwise filled with boys. Reading, playing, painting, shopping, snuggling, doing that sweet hair of yours– I love it all!
Today I was reminded of one of my favorite verses, Psalm 73:26: My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. May God be your strength forever. As you grow older I pray you learn to give yourself grace for your missteps and lean into Jesus when you feel weak. May you know in your heart that God is yours and He loves you even more than we ever could.
I pray that God would protect you like a shield and the goodness of the Lord would follow you all the days of your life.
We love you!
Happy 3rd Birthday my girl.
